TechSoup Alternatives: Every Other Way Nonprofits Get Software Discounts

By Mike Krieg · Updated October 17, 2026

TechSoup is still the route for some of the best nonprofit deals, including QuickBooks Online at $80 a year, but it's no longer the only one or even the main one for many tools. As of October 2026, most big vendors run their own nonprofit programs, and many of them use Goodstack to verify eligibility. Several well-known programs moved off TechSoup in 2025. The route map below shows which channel handles each tool, so you apply in the right place the first time.

This isn't a case against TechSoup. It's a nonprofit that does useful work, and you'll probably use it alongside the other routes.

What TechSoup does

TechSoup validates your organization's nonprofit status once. Partner vendors then offer donated or discounted products through its catalog, and you usually pay TechSoup an admin fee rather than paying the vendor list price. Examples from our records, as of October 2026:

TechSoup's validation is also accepted by some programs that sell directly. Zoho, for example, accepts a TechSoup token or a direct document upload, and Hootsuite names TechSoup as a validation route for HootGiving.

What moved off TechSoup

Several programs changed channel in 2025 and 2026. Many articles still send readers to TechSoup for them.

Program What changed Where to go now
Zoom TechSoup says the partnership ended in May 2025 Zoom Cares, verified by Goodstack: 50% off annual plans
Docusign TechSoup donation ended in May 2025, per a TechSoup support article; unused codes expired after April 2026 Goodstack: 30% off eSignature Standard and Business Pro
Adobe Acrobat Pro No longer sold through TechSoup Adobe directly: $15/year per user, up to 10 licenses
QuickBooks Desktop Last Desktop offer retired in February 2026 QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced, still through TechSoup
Google Workspace Verification now runs through Goodstack; older guides mention TechSoup Google for Nonprofits

If you held a Zoom discount through TechSoup, TechSoup says existing customers need to re-validate with Zoom Cares before their contract ends. Put a reminder in your calendar 60 days before renewal.

Goodstack: the verification layer

Goodstack doesn't sell software. It runs eligibility checks for vendors. Its help center says it "manages the application process on behalf of our partners". Once you're approved, the vendor applies the discount. Goodstack's site describes signing up as quick and free and lists discounts from Docusign, Zoom, OpenAI, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Asana.

Our records show Goodstack verification for:

  • Zoom: 50% off Workplace Pro and Business, annual only, $10 million budget cap
  • Asana: 50% off Starter or Advanced
  • Docusign: 30% off eSignature; 50% off IAM plans for the first 25 seats
  • Atlassian: Jira, Confluence and Loom free for up to 25 seats
  • monday.com: first 10 seats free
  • Google Workspace: free edition, or Business Standard at $3.50/user/month

One practical point: a Goodstack approval for one vendor doesn't automatically apply everywhere. Each vendor sets its own rules. Zoom, for example, excludes organizations with budgets above $10 million, while Asana has no budget cap in our records.

Vendors that verify you directly

These programs run their own applications. You don't need TechSoup or Goodstack:

Payment processors work the same way. PayPal's charity rate and Stripe's nonprofit rate are applied for on your existing account. See nonprofit payment processing fees.

Which route is cheapest?

For most tools only one route exists, so the question is really "which route applies to this tool". Where you have a real choice, it's usually between a nonprofit discount and a free tool you already have. Two examples:

  • Zoom vs. what you already own. Three Zoom Workplace Pro hosts on annual billing cost 3 × $14.16 × 12 = $509.76 a year, or $254.88 with Zoom Cares. If your staff already have Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 through a nonprofit plan, Meet or Teams may cover the same meetings for $0.
  • QuickBooks through TechSoup vs. paying Intuit. $140 × 12 = $1,680 at list against $80 through TechSoup, a $1,600 difference. The TechSoup route needs a new company file, though, so plan the migration before you buy.

The free audit checks each tool you pay for against the right channel and tells you where to apply.

A simple routine

  1. Keep your TechSoup registration current. It still matters for QuickBooks, BILL, Wix and Creative Cloud.
  2. Create a Goodstack account once and reuse it for Zoom, Asana, Docusign, Atlassian, monday.com and Google.
  3. Keep a document folder with your IRS determination letter, EIN confirmation and an officer's contact on your organization's domain. Most direct programs ask for some of these.
  4. Re-check channels at renewal. Programs move. Our hub of verified discounts lists changes as we confirm them.

Churches face extra eligibility questions on several of these routes. See church software discounts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main alternative to TechSoup?

There isn't a single replacement. Many vendors now run their own nonprofit programs and use Goodstack to verify eligibility. Zoom, Asana, Docusign, Atlassian, monday.com and Google Workspace all use Goodstack verification, while Microsoft, Salesforce, Canva, Slack and Notion verify organizations themselves.

Is Zoom still available through TechSoup?

No. TechSoup says the Zoom partnership ended in May 2025. Zoom now offers 50% off annual plans directly through Zoom Cares, with Goodstack handling verification.

Do I still need TechSoup?

For some tools, yes. QuickBooks Online (Plus at $80 a year), BILL, Wix and Adobe Creative Cloud for individuals are offered through TechSoup as of October 2026.

Does Goodstack charge nonprofits?

Goodstack's site describes signing up as quick and free. Vendors decide the discount; Goodstack runs the eligibility check on their behalf.
