Does Constant Contact have a nonprofit discount?

Yes, with one condition that catches people out: you have to prepay. Constant Contact's nonprofit knowledge-base article (updated August 21, 2026) gives 20% off for a 6-month prepay and 30% off for a 12-month prepay. Month-to-month billing gets nothing.

What the discount actually covers

The percentage applies to Constant Contact's standard pricing, which scales with your contact count. Two things are unclear from official pages, and both affect your real saving:

  1. Whether it stacks with the regular annual price. The pricing page already shows lower annual-billing prices (Standard is $35 monthly or $29.75 a month billed annually, about 15% less). If the 30% replaces that rather than adding to it, your real gain over normal annual billing is smaller.
  2. When it's applied. Don't buy a prepay plan until nonprofit pricing is confirmed on your account.

Worked example

A nonprofit on the Standard plan at the lowest contact tier, currently billed monthly.

Today (monthly): $35 × 12 = $420 per year

12-month nonprofit prepay, applying 30% to the monthly list price:

  • $35 × 0.70 = $24.50 per month
  • $24.50 × 12 = $294 per year, paid up front
  • Saving versus monthly: $420 − $294 = $126

6-month nonprofit prepay:

  • $35 × 0.80 = $28 per month, so $28 × 6 = $168 per half-year
  • $168 × 2 = $336 per year
  • Saving versus monthly: $420 − $336 = $84

Compared with regular annual billing ($29.75 × 12 = $357), the 12-month nonprofit prepay saves $357 − $294 = $63. That's the honest number if you would have switched to annual billing anyway.

The same arithmetic on Premium: $80 × 12 = $960 monthly, versus $80 × 0.70 × 12 = $672 on a 12-month prepay, a saving of $288.

Is prepaying worth it?

Prepaying trades cash now for a lower total. Ask three questions:

  • Can you absorb the up-front payment? On Standard, $294 at once instead of $35 a month. On larger contact tiers the lump sum grows with the price.
  • Will you still be on Constant Contact in 12 months? If you're evaluating other tools, the 6-month prepay limits your commitment at 20% off.
  • Is your contact count stable? If your list is about to grow into a higher tier, ask how mid-term upgrades are billed before prepaying.

If cash is tight in a particular season, time the prepay for the month after a major giving campaign.

Compared with Mailchimp

Mailchimp gives 15% off and doesn't require prepay, but you must request it before buying. See the Mailchimp page. At the lowest tiers, Mailchimp Standard after discount is $204 a year against $294 for Constant Contact Standard on a 12-month nonprofit prepay. Tiers differ by contact count, so compare at your actual list size. The free audit runs this comparison with your current bill.

Who should and shouldn't apply

Apply if you're a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) with an IRS Letter of Determination and you can commit to 6 or 12 months.

Don't bother if you need month-to-month flexibility; there is no nonprofit discount on monthly billing.

The same knowledge-base article also covers sales-tax exemption, a separate request. Confirm your state's rules with a CPA.

Church eligibility

Constant Contact requires an IRS Letter of Determination; tax ID paperwork alone doesn't qualify. Churches are tax-exempt automatically and many never request that letter. Without one, a church may not qualify, unless Constant Contact accepts a denominational group-exemption letter, which you should ask about first. See church eligibility for nonprofit discounts.

Frequently asked questions

Does Constant Contact offer a nonprofit discount?

Yes. Constant Contact gives eligible nonprofits 20% off when they prepay 6 months and 30% off when they prepay 12 months, as of October 2026. There is no nonprofit discount on month-to-month billing.

What documents does Constant Contact need for the nonprofit discount?

US organizations need an IRS Letter of Determination for 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) status. Tax Pay ID paperwork alone doesn't count. Non-US organizations provide their national equivalent.

Does the nonprofit discount stack with the regular annual-billing price?

Constant Contact doesn't say clearly. Its regular annual prices are already about 15% below monthly. Confirm the final price with Constant Contact before you prepay.

Can a 501(c)(6) get Constant Contact's nonprofit discount?

Yes. Unlike programs such as Zoom and Google Workspace, which require 501(c)(3) status, Constant Contact accepts 501(c)(6) determination letters as well as 501(c)(3).
