Nonprofit Cost Auditor

How it works

From purchase to savings report in seven steps. Most of the time goes into exporting your expenses.

  1. Buy through Stripe. $49, one time. We never see your card.
  2. Download the ZIP. We email you a private download link. It works for 7 days, and you can ask for a fresh one (with the latest discount library) for 12 months.
  3. Add it to Claude. In Claude, go to Customize > Skills, upload the ZIP and turn it on. The install guide has every click.
  4. Give Claude your expenses. Attach an export from QuickBooks, Xero, Aplos, your bank or your card, or paste a list of subscriptions. Twelve months is best. The file goes to your Claude account, not to us.
  5. Run the audit. Claude asks a few questions the file can't answer: your organization type, user counts for per-user tools, and whether any vendor already gives you nonprofit pricing. Then the skill's script does the math.
  6. Get your savings report: an executive summary, a savings table, the items worth investigating, possible duplicates and overlaps, and a prioritized action plan. See the sample.
  7. Use it again next quarter, next year, or whenever your expenses change. There's no subscription.

What the skill checks

  • Nonprofit pricing: each vendor against our library of 81 programs (free plans, percentage discounts, per-user nonprofit prices, donated software through TechSoup), with conditions and check dates.
  • Recurring charges: monthly, quarterly and yearly patterns, turned into a yearly cost. The report shows how each figure was worked out.
  • Duplicates: the same charge twice on one day, or a vendor billing more than once in most months.
  • Overlaps: two tools that do the same job (two email-marketing services, two e-signature tools).
  • Data problems: rows without a vendor or amount, unreadable dates and non-dollar rows are listed, not guessed at.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't price vendors outside the library. It lists the biggest ones so you can ask them.
  • It doesn't contact vendors, apply for programs or cancel anything.
  • It doesn't send your data anywhere. Claude may open vendors' public pricing pages to check a program, and nothing about your organization goes with that request.
  • It isn't a certified audit or professional advice.

The formulas match our free audit's methodology. The skill includes them in full (references/savings-calculations.md).
